electronic valve timing.
This is my progress on my electronic valve timing idea.update: I did it !!!!!!! it's now a four stroke, with the valves opening on the right stroke. The timing's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close.
Update: we have ignition! I've added a "spark plug" using the same timing method.

- Jul 21, 2012 alfajim159: @marcel_fail: thanks, are you saying it didn't work? I've never had a problem.
- Jul 16, 2012 marcel_fail: i played it and oh no my engine was crashed, the exhaust didnt work anymore and the engine wanted to make boom (fucking english) every time. nice engine btw 5
- Jul 13, 2012 alfajim: @Rubicon: thanks ;)

- Jun 29, 2012 alfajim: @richdevil500: fucking thank you lol ;))
- Jun 28, 2012 richdevil500: Very fucking cool
- Jun 26, 2012 alfajim: @beefey: thanks, and thanks for checking it out. :)
- Jun 25, 2012 beefey: Legendary. This level is awesome!
- Jun 19, 2012 alfajim: @Rubicon: thanks again fella ;-)
- Jun 18, 2012 Rubicon: @alfajim: I left a little message in my engine level, glad someone finaly listened ;)
- Jun 18, 2012 alfajim: @joshthegrate: thanks :-)
- Jun 18, 2012 alfajim: @Dino-bot: haha me too, that was a nice surprise, thanks for the votes whoever managed to vote. :-)
- Jun 18, 2012 Dino-bot: happy to see this finally in the top rated dude :)
- Jun 17, 2012 joshthegrate: Wow
- Jun 11, 2012 alfajim: @MetroWolf: thanks, unfortunately I can't speed it up anymore, the switches won't switch on and off any faster. :-)
- Jun 11, 2012 MetroWolf: This is amazing the timing is perfect! Now you need to speed it up :)
- Jun 11, 2012 alfajim: @Dino-bot: kind words indeed lol, thank you. :-)
- Jun 11, 2012 Dino-bot: Sorry dude missed this one, your best work yet maybe. I'm speechless. Well done a tour de force sir
- Jun 10, 2012 Dino_Bot: Your stupid
- Jun 09, 2012 alfajim: @T.D.: @Rubicon: thanks again guys, yes one vote, come on people there must be someone who can vote. :-D
- Jun 09, 2012 T.D.: @alfajim: wow impressive, better every mod. E.F.I. master! Someone vote this to top please. The mans work deserves it.
- Jun 09, 2012 Rubicon: @alfajim: You only need one lousy vote to get into top rated, come on people this is a quality build! :)
- Jun 09, 2012 alfajim: @Rubicon: thanks, I thought about balls to show the flow too, but I thought it was a step too far, they'd just get in the way. :-)
- Jun 09, 2012 Rubicon: @alfajim: I like the ignition, thought to do it on mine, but it would have had to be electronically controled, and I ran out of room. I even thought of using blue balls for intake demo and red ones for exhaust somehow.
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: @dom-t_123: to answer your question "what would you use it for" in the game not a lot really it's a model of how an internal combustion engine works. It has 4 strokes of the piston in each cycle - suck, squeeze, bang, blow. Suck- inlet valves open, fuel is sucked in, squeeze- or compression, the valve closes and the fuel mixture is compressed, bang- the spark plug ignites the fuel and the explosion pushes the piston down, giving you power, blow- the exhaust valve opens and the exhaust gasses are pushed out. Obviously that's on a real engine and not my wooden model lol. There, lesson over, I hope this helps you, and maybe you learned something. :-)
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: Thanks for the comments everyone. It took a lot of trial and error to get it right (mostly error lol) I wish I could raise the rpm, I wanted to make it user controllable. In theory it should work, but in practice any change in rpm and the switches don't work reliably. :-)
- Jun 08, 2012 Shakalaka: If I could vote you'd get my 5.
- Jun 08, 2012 gannand: Outstanding. I reken it would actually work if it was real. Good work.
- Jun 08, 2012 bg9009: Rpm up~
- Jun 08, 2012 Bill.Mitchell96: @alfajim: that is so complex .awsome
- Jun 08, 2012 Cheddah: This is an impressive build. Very nice 5 if I could.
- Jun 08, 2012 Rubicon: @alfajim: good job with the timing! I still can't figure out how you wired this thing to work the way it does lol
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: @T.D.: sounds like a good idea, here's my entry lol. Btw it works now, timing pretty good
- Jun 08, 2012 T.D.: @alfajim: sounds like an unannounced engine cut away challange, lol.
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: @Rubicon: thanks. No I don't mind at all, feel free to borrow any ideas you want, and good luck with it. Looking forward to seeing :-)
- Jun 08, 2012 Rubicon: That looks awesome, timing is off but you can fix that no prob. I'm working on a mechanically timed engine, hope you don't mind, I'll give you credit since I'll probably borrow a few of your design ideas :)
- Jun 08, 2012 dom-t_123: What could you use it for???
- Jun 08, 2012 demi: Lol nice work. Never heard of an 8 stroke engine before but oh well :p
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: @T.D.: yeah I'll get it but maybe not today, I'm driving myself a bit crazy with this lol.
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: @T.D.: thanks, had one of those doh moments, I was counting each time it reached TDC as one stroke :-S
- Jun 08, 2012 T.D.: @alfajim: Opps, you'll get it. Came along great,wonderful work man:-)
- Jun 08, 2012 alfajim: Thanks everyone, although I've just realised I've got the timing completely out, it looks like I'm making an 8 stroke engine. Lmao :-D
- Jun 08, 2012 getatthisdude : Great work.
- Jun 07, 2012 alfajim: @Asouraable : thanks.
- Jun 07, 2012 Asouraable : Awesome! Well designed
- Jun 07, 2012 alfajim: @skull : thank you :-)
- Jun 07, 2012 skull : I have to say this is fantasic
